1. Thomas Hoepker – Heartland

Thomas Hoepker is one of the most well-known German photojournalists of the 20th century. In 1963 he traveled to the United States of America and came back with a photo report which was later published in 5 issues of Kristall magazine as a series of photo stories with 60 various themes. Back in the 1960’s Europeans imagined the United States as the land of freedom and prosperity, but the photos reveal the truth about the American dream, with all it’s poverty, racism and violence.
